Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra: Holiday Scenery

Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra: Holiday Scenery

Presented by Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra at Upper St. Clair High School Theater

Celebrating 60 Seasons!
The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra invites you to join them for “Holiday Scenery”, an evening of traditional holiday favorites and winter classics. As part of the orchestra’s 60th season theme, “Scenes and Dreams” the orchestra will play I’ll Be Home For Christmas and I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. The eight-day Celebration of Light will be highlighted in the Festive Sounds of Hanukah. The orchestra will also take you three very different musical sleigh rides performing Anderson’s classic Sleigh Ride, Prokofiev’s Troika, from the Lt. Kije Suite and Dreams of a Winter Journey, the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1. Rounding out the concert will be a holiday sing-along, and other familiar songs of the season. A unique selection to this concert will be Malcolm Arnold’s Commonwealth Christmas Overture to commemorate the first televised Christmas Message by Queen Elizabeth II in 1957. The orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Warren Davidson and Patrick Forsyth.
Holiday Scenery will be performed on Saturday December 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper St. Clair High School Theater 1820 McLaughlin Run Rd. For ticket information please visit www.pittsburghcivicorchestra.net or phone 412-854-1389.
