Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School Presents an Afternoon of Enchantment

Family-friendly Event Kicks Off Nutcracker season with fun for all ages

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School kicks off The Nutcracker season at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, with Afternoon of Enchantment, a family-friendly event inspired by the production’s Act II Land of Enchantment. The ticketed event is open to the public and will feature dance, performance and craft experiences at PBT Studios, 2900 Liberty Ave., in the Strip District. Tickets start at $5 and children ages 3 and under attend for free.

Guests also will receive a buy one, get one free ticket offer for select performances to PBT’s production of “The Nutcracker,” which runs Nov. 30 - Dec. 27, at the Benedum Center.

Afternoon of Enchantment will feature class samplings, performance excerpts, craft activities and photo opportunities with costumed dancers — all happening on a rotating basis. The Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker also will make an appearance.

The event schedule allows children and adults to simultaneously participate in the fun. Youth can explore sequences from The Nutcracker with 25-minute pre-teen and children’s classes, which include ballet basics. Meanwhile, adults (ages 14+) can take an abbreviated version of PBT’s Community Division barre fitness class. Event guests will also be treated to a performance of excerpts from The Nutcracker’s  Act II The Land of Enchantment, danced by PBT School pre-professional dancers.
