Creative Conversation - A Reading and Discussion

Creative Conversation - A Reading and Discussion

Presented by Union Project at Union Project

Martin Luther King’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail
As Relevant Today As It Was Yesterday

For years now I have heard the word “Wait!” It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This “Wait” has almost always meant “Never.” We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that “justice too long delayed is justice denied.” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King

The United States history of injustice is nothing new. It has been more than a hundred years since the Emancipation Proclamation and we still have far to go. Creative Conversation strives to bring people together to educate, encourage, work, and imagine what liberty and justice for all could look like. We invite you to join us on Monday, August 13, 2018, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Together we will read Martin Luther King’s Letter from Birmingham Jail. The reading will be followed by a discussion, journaling, and the beginnings of an embroidery project that will capture our thoughts, feelings, and intentions in hopes of motivating us to collective action.

About Creative Conversation: Creative Conversation is a monthly event that brings people together to practice constructive dialogue, build empathy, and share resources. We will forge seemingly unlikely relationships by listening and sharing our differing views on current topics. Facilitated by community leaders, our goal is to empower participants to enact change within themselves and within the communities.
