Insider Tour of Meadowcroft Rockshelter

Meadowcroft Rockshelter, the oldest site of human habitation in North America, is located in Avella, Pa., 35 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. The National Historic Landmark features a massive, 16,000-year-old rock overhang used by the region’s earliest inhabitants for shelter and was named one of the “Five Great Places to See Evidence of First Americans” by Smithsonian magazine.

Dr. Adovasio’s presentation begins at 10 a.m. in the visitor’s center with tours of the Rockshelter to immediately follow.
