The Lone Pine String Band Concert

The Lone Pine String Band Concert

Presented by Sweetwater Center for the Arts at Sweetwater Center for the Arts

Based in Pittsburgh, the band focuses on old-time, traditional Appalachian style fiddle tunes, square dances, reel, hornpipes, hoots, and hollers, and keeping alive the legacy of authentic American roots music from the hills and mountains.

This event coincides with Mountain Muse, an exhibition feature art from the Appalachian Mountain region. There is a long history of creativity and craft making in the Appalachian Mountain region. Traditional crafts have thrived among its residents since the first settlements emerged. Today there are many artists living and working in the region who continue to use traditional processes and techniques but choose to create contemporary works that reflect current concepts and aesthetics.  Mountain Muse will bring together contemporary works in traditional media by six different artists who reside in five different states within the Appalachian Mountain region including, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Caroline, and Tennessee.

Visit the Mountain Muse exhibition from June 23- July 30, 2018 or join us for the Artist Reception on Saturday, June 23, 2018.

Mountain Muse was curated by Alexandra Watrous with the generous support of the Pittsburgh Foundation.
