Erik Lawrence has toured five continents, been part of two Grammy-winning albums, at least two other platinum albums and played with a range of artists including Levon Helm, The Band and Bob Dylan, avant-garde guitar master Sonny Sharrock, national poet laureate Robert Pinsky, Tibetan flute master Nawang Khechog, Elvis Costello, Roger Waters, Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, Hubert Sumlin, Roy Haynes, Henry Butler, Pete Seeger, NEA Jazz Master Chico Hamilton, living legends David Amram and Sheila Jordan and countless others. He recently completed a set of shows in Jamaica with Little Feat and Jackson Browne and Japan with Pete and Tony Levin.

Erik began teaching in colleges and universities at the age of eighteen and has taught and been artist-in-residence at many schools including Williams College and Dartmouth.

In recent years he has dedicated his studies to sound and vibration and how they are used as healing and therapeutic modalities both in indigenous cultures and using modern technologies. He is certified as a sound and Vibrational worker and incorporates this work in both public and private engagements.

In these live crafted solo performances, Erik utilizes his flutes and saxophones, live digital looping, poems, stories and recordings, and audience interaction to weave a wholly unique tapestry of sonic experience. At times it has been called Sound Sanctuary. The intention is always to be uplifting and rewarding for each audience member on a deep and personal level.
