PGH Photo Fair Speaker Series

Presented by Casey Droege Cultural Productions at Ace Hotel Pittsburgh

Sarah Meister is Curator in the Department of Photography at MoMA The Museum of Modern Art. Her recent exhibitions include Making Space: Women Artists and Postwar Abstraction (2017; co-curator) and One and One Is Four: The Bauhaus Photocollages of Josef Albers (2016-17; with accompanying publication). She is the author of Arbus Friedlander Winogrand: New Documents, 1967 (2017) and a co-editor and contributing author to the three volume series Photography at MoMA: 1840 to 1920 (2017), 1920 to 1960 (2016) and 1960 to Now (2015). She co-directs the August Sander Project, a five-year research initiative anchored by Sander’s People of the Twentieth Century, and is the lead instructor for the online course Seeing Through Photographs. Her current research explores Brazilian modernist photography and São Paulo’s Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante.

The PGH Photo Fair provides informative talks on photography at a variety of venues in Pittsburgh leading up to each edition of the fair. The series aims to augment the already rich art and photography scene in Pittsburgh with speakers who will focus on the nuts and bolts of collecting including connoisseurship, the state of the art, and an insider's view of the market.

All events are free and at the Ace Hotel Ballroom, 6pm doors open, starts at 6:30pm.

After each lecture, everyone is invited to stay for drinks at the hotel bar.
