A montage of dances and music from India to support American Cancer Society
"We rarely hear the inward music, but we are all dancing to it nevertheless.
Dance, when you’re broken open.
Dance, if you’ve torn the bandage off.
Dance in the middle of the fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance, when you’re perfectly free."
- Rumi
The artistic Director of Nandanik Dance Troupe, Nandini Mandal, is an Acute Mylogenous Leukemia survivor and a stem-cell transplant recipient. In her words, “As a cancer survivor, I think it is necessary that we all take steps to help eradicate the emperor of all maladies. We need to help raise funds to find a cure, to fund treatments and research. As a dancer myself, I have pledged to make my art an instrument through which I can help others fight cancer, and emerge as winners. But my fight would not have been successful had it not been for American Cancer Society and Hope Lodge recovery center.” In honor of cancer survivors, and cancer patients ,Nandanik Dance Troupe is hosting the second Dance for Cure event in Pittsburgh, PA,along with the American Cancer Society.
