Chamber Music Pittsburgh welcomes the SPA Trio, a partnership of three standout soloists, presenting a shimmering salon-style concert.
This ensemble features the “golden, powerful instrument” of soprano Susanna Phillips (The Plain Dealer) paired with Paul Neubauer, former principal violist of the New York Philharmonic, and Anne-Marie McDermott, “one of the great American pianists of her generation” (The Philadelphia Inquirer).
Through over a decade performing together, SPA Trio has been celebrated as “collaborative music-making at its best” (Cleveland Classical). Audiences will get to experience the unusual and beautiful pairing of soprano vocalist and obbligato viola, accompanied by the versatile talents of McDermott on piano. The concert features a combination of light salon songs, an aria by Felix Mendelssohn, and the monumental “Wesendonck” Lieder by Richard Wagner.
About MainStage Live: This series welcomes some of the most incredible artists performing today and pairs striking new compositions with powerful classics, demonstrating the inspiring diversity of chamber music performance.
