Three love stories. A murder mystery. And a nuclear espionage plot. The Theatre Factory is proud to present Red Herring, a noir comedy about marriage and other explosive devices.
It’s 1952: America’s on the verge of the H-bomb, Dwight Eisenhower’s on the campaign trail, and I Love Lucy’s on Monday nights. Meanwhile, Senator Joe McCarthy’s daughter just got engaged to a Soviet spy, and Boston detective Maggie Pelletier has to find out who dumped the dead guy in the Harbor—or else lose out on a honeymoon in Havana. Red Herring is a blunt-nosed, sharp-eyed look at love and tying (and untying, and retying) the knot.
The Theatre Factory’s production of Red Herring is directed by Joe Eberle. The cast features Jaron Carlson (Andrei), Misty Challingsworth (Maggie), Marie Chonko (Mrs. McCarthy/Mrs. Van Nostrand), Mike Crosby (James), Noah Kendall (Harry/Woody/Bartender), Jim Kiley (Priest/Major Hartwell), Amy Melissen (Mrs. Kravitz), Justin Mohr (Frank), Louisa Pastorius (Lynn/Clerk), and Matt Solter (Petey/Dr. Kasden/Herbert/Corpse).
Red Herring runs for two weekends at The Theatre Factory in Trafford (235 Cavitt Ave.): Friday through Sunday (May 19-21) and Thursday through Saturday (May 25-27). Performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays are at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinee is at 2:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at www.thetheatrefactory.org.
