What Are You Afraid Of? A Speculative Writing Workshop

What Are You Afraid Of? A Speculative Writing Workshop

Presented by Write Pittsburgh at Zoom

What goes bump in the night? Whatever your imagination tells you! This online speculative workshop will be focused on horror fiction and its links to other genres, be they fantasy, sci-fi, psychological, paranormal, or real life spookies. Participants will get to test the limits of what it means to be scared—and what scares them—in a safe and friendly environment.

This workshop series runs for six weeks: Sundays, from February 19 to March 26, 7–9 p.m. Eastern. All workshop sessions will be held over Zoom. Join from anywhere! Please feel free to contact info@WritePittsburgh.com with questions about accommodations. Tickets are $100.

About the facilitator: Samantha L. Barrett has a BA from University of Pittsburgh and an MFA from Carlow University. Her work has also appeared in 10/ten, The Chaffey Review, Polis, and Cities of Dust Planes of Light. She's been a student and instructor of the Madwomen in the Attic Workshops at Carlow. Sam is a proud volunteer with Write Pittsburgh and has been a teen workshop facilitator, co-Director of Adult Programs, and Director of Mystery Programs. Sam also founded the speculative fiction writing workshops at Write Pittsburgh. By day she works as Communications Manager for the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium; by night she watches a lot of cooking shows.
