With never-ending budget cuts, policy changes, demands in testing, and various other challenges, arts education programs (including music education programs) are constantly in danger of being cut from public education.  In order to save the right to arts education for every child in the United States, all of us need to do our part to create a music eco-system.  VH1 Save The Music Foundation’s Chiho Okuizumi Feindler will share her experiences working with school districts and arts education communities throughout the United States.

About the speaker: Chiho Okuizumi Feindler is the Senior Director of Programs and Policy for the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, responsible for the implementation of award-winning national initiatives committed to restoring music education in America’s public schools and raising public awareness about the benefits of music education.  Ms. Feindler completed the rebuilding of instrumental music education in such cities as Buckeye, AZ; St. John the Baptist Parish, LA; Columbia Heights, MN; Trenton, NJ, and directly manage ongoing partnerships in cities across the United States including Denver, CO; Miami, FL; Chicago, IL; Las Vegas, NV; Newark, NJ; New York, NY; and the state of West Virginia.   She created the Encore grant program and Ensemble Academy to further Save The Music Foundation’s mission.

Ms. Feindler has presented at numerous state and national educator conferences including Arts Education Partnerships National Convening, SXSW Edu, KIPP Summits, and National Association for Music Education Eastern Region Conference and provides consultation to communities throughout the United States as they face challenges that jeopardize arts education.
