Body Music: A Celebration of 80s NY Club Culture

Body Music: A Celebration of 80s NY Club Culture

Presented by The Andy Warhol Museum at The Andy Warhol Museum

Join The Warhol for the opening celebration of the exhibition Andy Warhol’s Social Network featuring music collective Axel F. (DJs Adrian Loving, Jahsonic and Smi) and music ranging from Warhol’s days at Studio 54, Area, The Palladium, Mudd Club and the Paradise Garage. A video installation curated by Adrian Loving featuring classic images from 1980s New York club culture, clips from Warhol’s TV series Warhol’s Fifteen Minutes and Interview magazine covers will be on view throughout the evening.

Conceived in 2011 by a team of curious and talented DJs including Jahsonic (Jamil Hamilton), Adrian Loving and DJ Smi (Rhome Anderson), Axel F. pays tribute to their coming-of-age by presenting the best in rare and classic music from the 70s and 80s. Billed as Jheri Curl Funk, Champagne Soul and Lazer Boogie, this DJ tag team skillfully combines dance music, slow jams and special edit productions together with a mash-up of themed video projections to stir up nostalgia from the party crowd.
