"Automatic Brunch" - Drawing Workshop + Brunch

Presented by Associated Artists of Pittsburgh at Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Exhibition Space

Join AAP & artist Mary Culbertson-Stark for an automatic drawing workshop & brunch.
Saturday June 25th from 11:00am-1:00pm. $25 per participant.

Each participant will create a unique mixed media work of art using various techniques of Automatic Drawing and Tachisme. Automatic Drawing or Autonamism refers to initiating art without conscious thought by accessing material from the unconscious mind as part of the creative process. Made popular by Surrealists such as Andre Masson, Salvador Dali and Max Ernst, as well as other artists from different art movements such as Miro and Picasso; automatic drawing is a technique used by artists to access the subconscious by allowing for random marks on the drawing surface to suggest unique images which are recognized and completed in conscious thought. It is based on the idea that each person has their own unique subconscious realm from which images can be accessed. This workshop will tap into the unique realm of each participant helping them to formulate an original work of art.
