Tony Havrilla, Pittsburgh oil painter, is pleased to announce an upcoming solo exhibition at UnSmoke Systems Artspace (1137 Braddock Avenue, Braddock) next month. The show, titled Notes From the River Nadir, features coinciding bodies of work produced between 2018 and 2022 capturing the artist’s unique aesthetic and experience with loss. The exhibition will kickoff on Friday, June 3 with an opening reception from 5-8 pm, featuring complimentary refreshments and live music from local musician, Jane West. The reception is open to the public and free to attend.

Notes from the River Nadir highlights Havrilla’s relationship to family, fable, and philosophy. The show spans introspective portraiture to meticulously crafted surrealist landscape. Through his oil painting, Havrilla creates windows into memories and shared illusory experiences. These works seek to steep the viewer in pools of color and lush brush strokes; leaving dregs for reflection.
