Presented by Pittsburgh Cultural Trust at Liberty Magic

Never play cards with Guy Hollingworth. Concentrate as you may, those hands are too darned quick. A full-time barrister practicing intellectual property law, Guy Hollingworth has become world famous for his night job! He is considered one of London’s most skilled magicians specializing in a unique and original style of card conjuring for exclusive private gatherings and the occasional magic convention. His book, Drawing Room Deceptions, became an instant best-seller, leading to dozens of television appearances including NBC's The World's Greatest Magic III, Illusoes with Luis de Matos in Portugal, The Five Greatest Magicians in the World in Japan, Britain's Worst Cheats, Heroes of Magic, Fifty Greatest Magic Tricks, and the BBC's History of Magic. Guy holds the distinguished honor of being named Magician of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood.

Originally directed by Neil Patrick Harris, and developed at London’s famed Menier Chocolate Factory, The Expert at the Card Table tells the riveting story of Milton Franklin Andrews, a con man wanted on charges of murder, card-sharping, and railroading, who took his own life in 1905 as authorities were closing in. Amongst the fine clothing, stacks of cash and playing cards in the dingy boarding house where his body was discovered, the police found a copy of a rare magic book called The Expert at the Card Table by S.W. Erdnase. Over 75-riveting minutes, Guy shares some of this rare book’s secrets with demonstrations of unfathomable conjuring and incomparable card control, whilst recounting the tragic mystery of Milton Andrews, the finest card mechanic of his day.

Neil Patrick Harris is a Tony and Emmy award-winning stage and screen performer, famous for his roles as Barney Stinson in the popular CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother and as the iconic and beloved Doogie Howser, M.D. He’s been in many movies, hosted both the Tony and the Emmy Awards multiple times, and performed in several Broadway shows. Harris served as President of the Academy of Magical Arts from 2011-2014. His memoir, Choose Your Own Autobiography, was a New York Times bestseller. He is the author of The New York Times bestselling Magic Misfits young adult book series. Oh, and he is an accomplished amateur magician and magic director. And the father of twins. And he’s Dr. Horrible.
