Teresa Duff - Renewing the Decorative Finishes at Heinz Hall

Presented by MCF Architecture at Frick Building

Teresa Duff, Architectural Conservator will reveal the process of renewing Heinz Hall’s decorative finishes and grandeur.
The home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Heinz Hall exemplifies opulence, grandeur and grace. Built in 1927, decorative finishes consisting of gold leaf, glazed moldings, faux marble finish and high relief elements abound from floor to ceiling. Almost 100 years later, these decorative finishes have been carefully renewed during a massive 10-week renovation entailing extensive color matching, gold leaf application, glazing of high relief features, faux finish touch-up and a well-coordinated workflow.
