You Are Here celebrates the opening of Bat Country Revisited exhibition with a reception and musical performance by Kepi Ghoulie and friends.
You Are Here announces the opening celebration of “Bat Country, Revisited ”
In the mythology of many cultures, bats are symbols of the underworld where people live in shadows. But, conversely, some cultures shed a positive light on bats viewing them as a symbol of good luck: a symbol that something good was about to happen. The bat is certainly a creature that is quite mysterious. Bat Country uses these creatures of the night as metaphor as well as theme.
The exhibition features the work of Pittsburgh area artists Kara Zuzu, JaM, and show curator Natalie Condrac. Additionally, YAH welcomes two guest artists: Boston area musician and artist B-Face, and California artist and singer/songwriter Kepi Ghoulie. Kepi will be in residence at YAH during the week preceding the opening of the exhibition creating artwork and making music.
The opening of Bat Country Revisited on September 25 will feature a gallery open house from 2 until 6-ish pm (to accommodate social distancing,) and an outdoor music performance by Kepi Ghoulie with B-Face at 3 at the stage at Fifth St and Clay Ave., one block from the gallery. Masks are strongly recommended indoors, especially for unvaccinated people.
Bat Country Revisited will continue at You Are Here until October 31.
