Motivate Your Mind by exploring the art making processes of Andy Warhol. Student will produce their own series of prints using a variety of Warhol’s silk-screen printing methods.
CLASS DESCRIPTION: Explore the art making processes of one of Pittsburgh’s most famous local artists, Andy Warhol. Credited with coining the phrase “In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”, Warhol’s fascination with celebrity and fame began at an early age. Students will investigate what inspired Warhol to create his iconic works and draw connections to today’s popular culture. This week-long intensive is presented in conjunction with The Andy Warhol Museum’s summer exhibit—Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen. Students will produce their own series of prints using a variety of Warhol’s silk-screen printing methods.
INSTRUCTOR: Eileen Viloria received her BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing along with her K-12 PA teaching certification from Edinboro University of PA in 2008. As an Artist Educator at The Andy Warhol Museum, Eileen helps facilitate tours and workshops related to Warhol's life and art making processes. Eileen’s enthusiasm to create connections and partnerships with schools and other community arts organizations has led to a wide range of teaching experiences throughout the region and abroad. Although, teaching plays a large role in Eileen’s life and career, she feels that it is crucial to always be learning and growing. Eileen continues to explore her own creativity with her favorite art medium, metal, and has her own sterling silver jewelry line.
