A family friendly YouTube show that features a story, a prompt, and an interview in each episode.
The Summer of Stories project began in Summer of 2020 as a grass-roots weekly YouTube web series designed with the intention of reconnecting families and adults to storytelling and folklore in meaningful ways. Each episode, averaging 20-25 minutes in length, features a story, an activity or prompt, and an interview. Stories include folklore from around the world as well as original tales. The interview and activity of each episode correspond to themes in the story, allowing viewers to think about and discuss the story in multidimensional ways. Past interviewees include artists, a librarian, an astronomer, a meditation teacher, and representatives from non-profit groups, all with Pittsburgh ties.
Season 2 of Summer of Stories launched on YouTube channel @MV StoryDance on Wed, June 9, 2021 and runs through July 29. The second season is better than ever, keeping the same main format and diversity of tales that engaged audiences in the first season, with planned interviews that range from Pittsburgh based artists and musicians to community organizations and small business owners.
Episodes are currently free for all viewers.
