Developing empathy is essential for cross-cultural understanding. Save the date for November’s DEAI Lunch and Learn, book club style! Attendees are encouraged to read the book “Empathy: Why It Matters, and How to Get It” in advance. Cecile will discuss the important themes in this book and how they apply to our lives as inclusive arts administrators. If followed and practiced, you will deepen your ability to communicate and learn from others.
ABOUT THE DEAI WORKSHOP SERIES
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council offers this workshop series focusing on diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI), hosted by GPAC Diversity Catalyst Cecile Shellman. Cecile (she/her/hers) is a long-time advocate for DEAI practices in the arts. This series hopes to unite the Pittsburgh arts and culture community and the public to discuss “uncomfortable” topics that must be unpacked and addressed to support a vibrant and equitable city of arts. Hosted on Wednesdays over lunch, join us for some frank discussions in a safe space.
