This Little World: A Solo Performance of Shakespeare's Richard II at the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival

This Little World: A Solo Performance of Shakespeare's Richard II at the Pittsburgh Fringe Festival

Presented by Pittsburgh Fringe Festival at Online/Virtual Space

This Little World was an official selection of the Living Record Digital Arts Festival (UK), the Lagos Theatre Festival (Nigeria), the Anywhere Festival (Australia), and Philly Theatre Week. It has been nominated for a 2021 OffFest Award.

The play begins where Shakespeare’s Richard II ends, with the former King Richard imprisoned, and his troubled reign at an end. The adaptation for solo performance finds Richard reflecting on the circumstances that caused his confinement, and conjuring the people and the scenes of his personal history. A product of the social and civic turmoil of 2020/21, the play mines the poetry, humor and pathos of a classic history play that is deeply relevant to the state of the modern world.
