Women's March: A Celebration of Women Composers

Women's March: A Celebration of Women Composers

Presented by Pittsburgh Opera at Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters

Pittsburgh Opera’s acclaimed Resident Artists and music staff will explore a breadth of repertoire from the 11th Century to today all composed by women in this free, 55-minute online concert.

The composers include Hildegard von Bingen, Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Alma Mahler, Clara Schumann, Margaret Bonds, Libby Larsen, Lori Laitman, and many more.

These composers have given us more than just beautiful music—they have used their talent and tenacity to ensure women have a place in the world of classical music. They’ve had to navigate an industry and a world where women were not always respected as much as their male colleagues, but they chose to raise up their voices so that others could be heard.
