The Entrepreneurial Artist Two-Part Series: Planning to Return to Work Post-COVID

The Entrepreneurial Artist Two-Part Series: Planning to Return to Work Post-COVID

Presented by Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council at Online/Virtual Space

A primary reason that artists create art is to tell a story or convey a truth. However, artists also need to eat and a safe place to work and sleep. Like most necessities in life, these require a steady income. The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the need for the creative community to have a financial safety net. This two-part series will prepare artists with the tools needed to operate a sustainable arts business as, hopefully, the arts robustly return this year.

This program will be conducted in two parts, led by GPAC Business Volunteer for the Arts, Nerissa Conn. It is encouraged but not required that artists attend both sessions. If you are unable to attend either webinar live, you will be able to view a recording of the webinars at your convenience.

Part 1: Job Proposals | Wednesday, February 17, 2021
Learn the essential elements of a project proposal and how to write one for prospective clients. Understand project and contract requirements and how to effectively create a proposal that will persuade clients to hire you. This session includes creating a targeted bio utilizing your artist statement.

Part 2: What to Charge | Wednesday, March 10, 2021
Determine what to charge for your art, services, or time. Learn how to calculate a flat rate, an hourly rate, and royalties for your work.

You will receive a Zoom link and other event details upon registration. For security purposes, please do not share any Zoom links.
