Get Out The VOTE!: Women in the Arts Fall Meet-up

Presented by Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council at Online/Virtual Space

Join the Women in the Arts Network for its fall meetup, featuring artists and community organizers collaborating to GET OUT THE VOTE! Election Day is upon us, and Pittsburgh-area activists and artists - Penny Mateer and Elaine Harris-Fulton - want your help to engage the community.

Penny Mateer will share her project, Pole-2-Polls, a community activist group that places beautiful hand-sewn voting signs on utility poles across the city. Elaine Harris-Fulton of Wake Up the Vote Wilkinsburg is also distributing these signs in Wilkinsburg. They will share how they merge art and activism to wake up communities to the right to vote by combining fiber arts with important election information that encourages all of us to become democracy champions.

This is an event of the Women in the Arts Network, a group specifically for female-identifying and gender non-conforming artists, arts administrators, and advocates to network, collaborate, socialize, and support one another. This peer network is hosted by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and coordinated by local artist, Kirsten Ervin.
