This documentary film, narrated by Alice Walker, explores the Candomblé religion in Brazil—a potent legacy of those enslaved Africans.
More than 4 million Africans were brought to Brazil during the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Grounded in a strong community and Earth-based wisdom, the Candomblé culture has become a parallel for the social challenges, resiliency, and triumphs of its devotees.
