The Heinz History Center will host a virtual conversation with historian Kate Clarke Lemay of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
Marking the centenary of the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920, Votes for Women: A Portrait of Persistence will explore the history and complexity of the national suffrage movement with Kate Clarke Lemay, historian at the National Portrait Gallery.
The program will explore the under-recognized individuals and groups of the Suffrage Movement and examine how portraiture promoted gender equality and became a crucial element of women’s activism.
Registration for this virtual program is $5 general admission and free for Heinz History Center members. Donations are appreciated!
