DEAI Lunch & Learn: Race, Wealth, and the Arts

DEAI Lunch & Learn: Race, Wealth, and the Arts

Presented by Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council at The Big Room at the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council

How many times have you heard people say that the arts are "not for me?" Not for people who look like me, make a certain wage, et cetera? If we claim that the arts are for all, we need to understand the history, context, and reality of such claims. Let's have a frank and future-driven discussion about why the arts are perceived as elitist.

Lunch provided.

ABOUT THE DEAI WORKSHOP SERIES
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council offers this workshop series focusing on diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion (DEAI), hosted by GPAC Diversity Catalyst Cecile Shellman. Cecile (she/her/hers) is a long-time advocate for DEAI practices in the arts. This series hopes to unite the Pittsburgh arts and culture community and the public to discuss “uncomfortable” topics that must be unpacked and addressed to support a vibrant and equitable city of arts.
