What She Said: the Music of Women Poets

What She Said: the Music of Women Poets

Presented by Pittsburgh Camerata at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

The Pittsburgh Camerata shines a light on women past and present whose poetry has been set to music, including works composed by women as well. Poets Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasdale, Amy Lowell, Cynthia Jarvis, Gwyneth Walker, Hildegard von Bingen, Abbie Betinis, and Libby Larsen have been talking to us (some for centuries)! Women composers featured include Elaine Hagenberg, Stephanie K. Andrews, Josephine Poelinitz and Felicia Sandler. Artistic Director Mark Anderson has invited two choirs of young women to participate in the performance: The Pittsburgh Girls Choir (Kathryn Barnard, Artistic Director) and the Triple Trio all-girl ensemble from Mt. Lebanon High School (Ethan LaPlaca, Director).
