Pittsburgh Songwriters in the Round

Presented by City of Asylum @ Alphabet City at City of Asylum @ Alphabet City

Presented in cooperation with the Pittsburgh, PA Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.

Featured Songwriters:

KIM MAVERICK is a singer-songwriter-scribbler obsessed with the power of storytelling. She sees songwriting as a way to untangle the big emotions caught up in life’s little moments. Kim was born in Canada, raised on soft rock radio and sci-fi novels. She studied classical music composition at the University of Windsor, then tried to forget everything she learned as she toured around dive bars with rock bands. She now spends her days writing for other artists and her nights playing requests at Howl at the Moon piano bar.

ADAM FITZ plays and sings soulful songs. Hailing from Chicago, Fitz recently brought his rootsy originals and uniquely spun covers to the Pittsburgh area. Fitz’ full-bodied rasp and earnest storytelling has found him compared to John Fogerty by TimeOut Chicago and Rod Stewart by the Chicago Reader. His life experiences have merged with the years on stage to produce an engaging performance filled with authenticity, depth, and an energetic, passionate presence. (Photo by Mark Federighi)

Pittsburgh Native AJ RAGGS has been performing for 14 years. AJ’s goals include his desire to be a touring, performing pop artist and developing his craft of songwriting, as well as building strong relationships with music publishers, and increasing his pro-writing circle, and fan base. He is currently participating in a mentorship with Sheree Spoltore from Global Songwriters Connection in Nashville, TN. (Photo by Josh Brown)

ANNE ELIZA was born and raised in Pittsburgh and has studied classical piano and voice most of her life. When her interests changed from traditional training and music education to pop, rock, and the ever-evolving entertainment industry, she transferred from Penn State to Berklee College of Music. But it wasn’t until she was 27 and joined the band The Commonheart as a background singer that she saw the world of songwriting and life as a touring musician in full swing. Shortly after joining the band, she began to write her own music and is now working on her first album.
