Natural Dye: Solar Dyeing

Natural Dye: Solar Dyeing

Presented by Full Pint Wild Side Pub at Full Pint Wild Side

Learn how to use the passive heat of the sun and natural dyestuffs to create beautiful colors and marks on fabric! This is an eco-friendly, low energy way to dye small amounts of fabric for quilts, collage, and sewing projects, as well as yarns and threads. We will prepare our fabrics and dyestuffs in bundles that will dye over time in the passive heat of the jar in a sunny spot. It‘s an intriguing way to observe the changes to the fabric, learn about dye processes, and is very gentle on the Earth. I have even collected dyestuffs while on vacation and created hand-dyed baby onesies for my niece while away from home.

This is an adults only class. However, this particular class could be easily accomplished with children. Parents, and other educators are encouraged to take their knowledge home/to school and pass along to the next generation.
