Presented by Acculturation for Justice, Access, and Peace Outreach at Market Square

WORLD REFUGEE DAY 2019
Refugees Welcome!

World Refugee Day commemorates the strength, courage, and perseverance of millions of
refugees who are forced to leave their homes to start a new life with their families. This year’s
event is organized by Acculturation for Justice Access and Peace Outreach with help from
refugee resettlement agency Jewish Family & Community Services, and support from
organizations like the Red Cross, SHIM, Literacy Pittsburgh, All for All, Casa San Jose, ARYSE, and Hello Neighbor.
The day will include multicultural performances, speakers, food vendors, craft stands, children’s activities, a Girl Scout color guard, and more! One of the most moving elements of this yearly event is the citizenship ceremony, which will allow a group of immigrants to begin their lives as American citizens.
Come and show support to Pittsburgh's international communities, eat some delicious
multicultural food, and learn more about refugees and immigrants in our city.
