Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra: Dreams of Youthful Inspiration

Presented by Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra at Upper St. Clair High School Theater

The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra presents “Dreams of Youthful Inspiration” as part of its 60th concert season, Scenes and Dreams. Joining the orchestra for this performance will be the three finalists of the PCO/PMTA Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Young Artist Concerto Competition.

Futen Wang, a junior at North Allegheny Senior High School, will perform Hummel’s Potpourri Op. 94 “Fantasie” for Viola and Orchestra. He is a student of Pittsburgh Symphony violist Marylene Gingras-Roy.

Eric Wang, a student of Natasha Snitkovsky, will play the first movement of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1. He is a freshman at North Allegheny Intermediate High School.

Leila Fanien will perform the first movement of the Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor. A junior at Mt. Lebanon High School, she is a student of Pittsburgh Symphony Assistant Concertmaster Hong-Guang Jia.

To open the concert, the orchestra will play Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
