THE CALL: An art exhibition about school segregation is looking for teen artists. Race and Revolution: Still Separate - Still Unequal is looking for teen artists who are interested in creating artwork that shows how we can challenge segregation in Pennsylvania’s public school system.

The art exhibition Race and Revolution: Still Separate - Still Unequal , on view this April 27th to July 21st, 2019 at the August Wilson Cultural Center in Pittsburgh, examines the ongoing racial and economic disparity in the U.S. public school system. Public schools in the United States are more segregated today than they were before the Civil Rights Movement. How has this truth been experienced in Pittsburgh’s public schools, and how can we use art to push the conversation into the public eye to raise awareness?

Exhibition Dates: April 27th to July 21, 2019

Examples of Prompts Your Artwork Could Address:
● How have you experienced or witnessed school segregation?
• Policing in schools, lack of resources, lack of teacher and content representation
● What hopes do you have for your education?
● How does school help you realize these dreams?
● How might school hinder them?
● How can students maximize their school experience?
● How can school communities better support students?
● What can you do to inspire change and growth in your school?
