Trailblazers of the Suffrage Movement-Celebrating 100 Years

Imagine being a woman and having no rights – you can’t own property, you can’t have a job outside the home, you can’t have a credit card and you’re not permitted to vote.  This is not a third world country – this is the United States in the early 1900’s – a mere 100 years ago.

Now imagine a group of women getting together to break down that wall, who march, campaign and raise money for the right to vote.  Imagine their hardships, what they had to go through, losing their life and their relationships.

Inspired by Mayor William Peduto, Women In Film and Francis Rocks Productions has produced a documentary interviewing descendants of the women who marched.   We hear their stories, see their photographs and learn what they did, how they did it and how brave they were.  You’ll hear the story of women who got together to announce the play-by-play for the World Series and in between plays, provide information to the mostly male crowd on women’s rights.

Mayor William Peduto explains in the documentary how important it is to celebrate their achievements and encourages everyone to participate in the celebration.

Cecile Springer explains her journey as a woman in a large corporation and how she climbed the corporate ladder to achieve her goals.  Her stories and others are awe-inspiring and some even jaw-dropping.
