Squirrel Hill by the Numbers explores the hidden world of Pittsburgh’s notorious Jewish numbers syndicate.
The tour visits the fashionable homes where numbers barons lived and plied their trade. Between the 1930s and 1960s, federal and local law enforcement officers raided many of these sites. Additional stops include popular clubs and eateries where the city's top echelon of numbers bankers socialized, strategized, and gambled themselves; all nestled among the neighborhood’s culturally rich and historical architecture.
