The ever-evolving Some Assembly Required  heads to The Andy Warhol Museum for an interactive exploration of art, music, and dance. Blending conversation and improvisation, the performance experience expands and intensifies through audience response and interpretation of visual art. Each culminating world premiere celebrates the artist and audience, the planned and spontaneous.

THE ANDY WARHOL MUSEUM

The Andy Warhol Museum, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2019, holds the largest collection of Warhol’s artworks and archival materials. The Warhol is one of the most comprehensive single-artist museums in the world and the largest in North America.

HISTORY OF SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED

Fusing choreography and composition with visual art, Some Assembly Required was originally commissioned by the Carnegie Museum of Art (Pittsburgh) in 1995 for the Made in America exhibit. Inspired by the work of Philip Yenawine, former director of education at the Museum of Modern Art, this process gives the audience the ability to influence and interact with the creative process, and simultaneously allows for a facilitated discussion.

Since 1995, Attack Theatre has performed Some Assembly Required in more than 25 different museums and art galleries, from its inception at the Carnegie Museum of Art to Avignon Festival (France). Additional venues include: The Frick Art & Historical Center, Museé Océanographique de Monaco, Mattress Factory, The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, SPACE, The August Wilson African American Cultural Center, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Contemporary Craft, Miller Gallery, Unsmoke Systems Artspace, and more.
