With this in mind, we are presenting New Works in the Time of Corona… A Virtual Exhibit, beginning this Friday, May 15 and running thru July 30, 2020, PWS Online Gallery, https://www.pittsburghwatercolorsociety.com/Corona-Gallery-2020
All works have been created between March 15 and May 15, 2020.
Works are for sale and all proveeds go directly to the artist. We ask that you vote for your favorite work via email.
Amid the uncertainty presented to us, there is one continuous and comforting fact: artists don’t stop making art. As you have seen, Museums and galleries may be closed but online there are “tours” of museums from Google and other sites, free lessons and live streaming demonstrations are all readily available. Taking this as our guide we have created a 75th Anniversary special exhibit through our website.
All of the PWS juried members were invited to participate. Artists entered one to three pieces of new work, created since the “Stay in Place” order on March 15. All works have bbeen created using water-based media on a paper surface (YUPO and Tyvek are permitted) and unvarnished. No canvas. Mediums include: watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, and egg tempura.
