Lights and Shadows: Making Pittsburgh Art at Night

As part of Remake Learning Days, the Heinz History Center will host a night of pizza and Pittsburgh-inspired art for kids in 3rd through 8th grade.

Parents can drop off kids in 3rd through 8th grade for a quick dinner, followed by a hands-on exploration of the History Center’s collection of prints, paintings, and photographs to see how artistic techniques and the city have changed.

Kids can try the methods of Pittsburgh-born or trained artists and make a charcoal print of the Smoky City, screen print part of Pittsburgh’s skyline, and use the plein air approach to make a sketch of the lights and shadows of downtown from the History
