Jim Messina

An undisputed expert in the fine art of making music, Jim Messina’s musical prowess spans five decades, three acclaimed rock super groups, a vibrant solo career, as well as a dizzying array of game changing producing and engineering credits including such luminaries as The Doors, Lee Michaels and Herb Alpert.

While acting as producer/engineer for Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Buffalo Springfield, Messina joined the temperamental band as bassist. Upon breaking up in 1968, Jim’s friendship with group’s founder  Richie Furay led to the creation of Poco. Messina switched to lead guitar and the band defined a new musical genre known as country-rock. After three successful albums, Jim devoted himself to full-time record producing. That fateful decision led to an unintentional collaboration with newcomer Kenny Loggins. The resulting duo Loggins and Messina, released 8 hit albums over seven years, amassing 16 million in album sales.
