Drag Queen Story Time with Alora Chateaux

Playing dress up is a developmental tool in early childhood that promotes a variety of developmental skills, from motor skills to vocabulary building to emotional development to imitating and learning more about people’s roles in the world. Playing dress up helps children test out theories and arrive at a more mature understanding that clothes don’t make the man or woman or person.

The Children’s Museum is undertaking a year-long investigation on kindness to encourage empathy in ourselves. We strive to create innovative programs that inspire joy, curiosity, and creativity in a way that is inclusive and promotes discussion among people from all walks of life. Today, we invite Alora to show how drag queens are one of many models of creativity and confidence.

Join us in the Theater for an extra fabulous story time with Alora Chateaux, a drag queen from Pittsburgh! Together we’ll read stories about dinosaurs and sing some dino-mite tunes. Stick around to meet Alora, ask her questions and get your picture taken. Don’t forget your camera and your dancing shoes!
