Black Futures: A Tribute to Thaddeus Mosley

Join us as the acclaimed Pittsburgh-based sculptor Thaddeus Mosley accepts the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professional Achievement Award. After a week in residence and a visit to Mosley’s studio, award-winning poets r. erica doyle, francine j. harris, Douglas Kearney, and Ronaldo V. Wilson will present new works in celebration of Mosley’s 60+ years of making sculpture.

Thaddeus Mosley is winner of the 1999 Governor’s Award for Artist of the Year in Pennsylvania Visual Arts and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts’ 1978 Artist of the Year Award, 2000 Cultural Award, and 2002 Guild Council Service to the Arts Award. r. erica doyle is the author of proxy, winner of the 2014 Norma Farber First Book Award from the Poetry Society of America and finalist for the Lambda Literary Award in Lesbian Poetry. francine j. harris is the author of play dead, winner of 2017 Lambda Literary and Audre Lord Awards, and allegiance, finalist for the 2013 Kate Tufts Discovery and PEN Open Book Awards. Douglas Kearney is the author of six books, including Buck Studies, a CLMP Firecracker awardee and California Book Award silver medalist. Ronaldo V. Wilson is the author of four books of poetry and winner of the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry, the Asian American Literary Award in Poetry, and the Cave Canem Poetry Prize.
