Bahirah

Bahirah is a 22 year old black queer artist who grew up in the Wilkinsburg community. She’s been creating ever since she can remember doing most things. Art is a major part of her life that influences almost everything she does. Growing up black, Muslim, gay, and non-male has shown her that the world isn’t always kind and finding others like her isn’t easy. Setting out to create the world she once thought existed as a young child is something she likes to do through art. And in doing so hopes to find community! It’s an escape that reminds her that the world isn’t always ugly and even when it is and she thinks there’s no beauty around, it’s still there because she is there and can create it herself.
