The Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, in partnership with the History Center, is proud to host historian Rebecca Erbelding. Dr. Erbelding is an expert on American responses to the Holocaust and the War Refugee Board. She has worked at the United States
Dr. Erbelding will discuss her new book, “Rescue Board: The Untold Story of America’s Efforts to Save the Jews of Europe,” as well as her work with the new exhibit at USHMM, Americans and the Holocaust. She will tell the fascinating story of the young government staffers who started a psychological warfare campaign, sent false papers into enemy territory, negotiated ransom offers with Nazis, and ultimately saved tens of thousands of lives.
