The August Wilson Center – African American Cultural Center presents Grammy Award-nominee, singer, songwriter, and producer Eric Roberson. Roberson (known affectionately as “Erro” by friends and fans) continues to break boundaries as an independent artist in an industry dominated by major labels, manufactured sounds and mainstream radio. Described as the original pioneer of the independent movement in R&B and soul music, Eric has achieved major milestones in his career, from being a successful songwriter and producer for notable artists such as Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Dwele, Vivian Green and countless others, as well as headlining sold out tours across the country.
His countless achievements as an independent artist have established him as a leader and have allowed him to reach levels of great success once never imaginable by an unsigned artist. Roberson was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance in both 2010 and 2011 for “A Tale of Two” and “Still” and has released 14 albums and EPs on his independent label, Blue Erro Soul. Additionally, he’s collaborated with the likes of Will Smith, Jill Scott and Carl Thomas. Roberson is one of the few independent artists in the business that gets heavy radio and digital rotation.
