Pärt, Berio, and more: Jubal FUlks, violin

Jubal Fulks is an award-winning and critically acclaimed violinist and teacher who performs repertoire from the Baroque era through the music of today. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras across the United States and has been heard on National Public Radio’s “Performance Today.” As a recitalist, he has appeared at numerous summer festivals and concert series in the United States and has toured extensively in Europe with orchestras and chamber groups.

His 2017–18 touring repertory includes the works he will perform in the Alia Musica Presents series: Luciano Berio’s famed Sequenza for solo violin, Elliott Carter’s Four Lauds, and the violin and piano version of Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, a favorite of late 20th-century composition. The program closes with Veneziana, by Pittsburgh-based composer John Arrigo-Nelson, who wrote the piece by Fulks’ commission in 2014.
